MEET MEG
Meg Loy is a fascinating woman of improbable multitudes.
If there is a creative task that can be done, she likely wants to do or has done it.
Actor, singer, composer, writer, costume designer, wig stylist, hat-maker, and she would like to keep adding to the list!
Described as “Amalia Balash stepped off the page” by Steven Lutvak (while simply existing, not doing the role), Loy brings a quirky honesty and playful sense of humour to each space and role she inhabits.
Equally as comfortable belting out big Broadway diva numbers as coquetting about the top of the staff in operetta and the classics, she loves to throw unexpected surprises out of her songbook at any given opportunity.
Loy was a finalist at the Kelli O’Hara Awards for playing Sibella Hallward in A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, and would drop everything to return to the role in a heartbeat. It’s everything she loves at its finest; complicated characters, razor sharp wit, soaring soprano singing, and precise physical comedy.
She delights in digging into Shakespeare and classic plays just as much as singing in opera or musicals, and takes pride in being a storyteller above all.
Not only a performer in musical theatre, plays, and opera, Loy’s other creative inclinations include music composition, lyricism, and playwriting: she is currently developing the musical comedy, The Soprano’s Revenge as well as a few other plays; and costume design: her skill and obsession being period and whimsical pieces.
Loy loves to experiment, collaborate, and create in all forms.
